Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris - Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (
MBKM) is a program from the Ministry of
Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of
Indonesia that facilitates students to learn about practical knowledge and acquire valuable skills for their future careers. Eighty-five students from various campuses join student exchange at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Khairun University. Nine students from different universities are studying in the English Education Studi Program of Teacher Training and Education at Khairun University. They have opportunities to learn about other cultures.
While participating in the Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM) from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek), students will participate in a similar study program. The students will study for one semester. The lecturer period is carried out in the 2022/2023 Odd Semester which began on 12 September 2022 yesterday.
"The total credits that PMM students can take are 20 credits, including 16 credits for normal grades and another 4 credits for the archipelago module," said Berto, one of the PMM students in the English Education Study Program (5/10/2022).
There is a certain uniqueness for students who take part in this PMM program, namely participating in the Nusantara Module. This program is a course activity to add insight into the diversity and also to get to know the target area made by the ministry. PMM students will be invited to visit several distinctive places that characterize the City of Ternate, such as the Sultanate of Ternate and Tidore Palaces, Clove Afo, and others. In addition, they can also enjoy a variety of North Maluku specialties.
Most of the students choose Khairun University as their destination because they are interested in Ternate City and want to know the diversity of tourist attractions, historical places, culture, food and the beauty of the island. "We want to have a lot of experience and build new relationships in this area," said Septi, one of the PMM students (5/10/2022).
During the lecture process for almost 1 month at Khairun University FKIP, at first many students experienced culture shock due to differences in rules and language in North Maluku. However, with the initiative and interest of the students, they began to get used to it due to the friendliness of the people of North Maluku.
PMM students who come from other universities are usually placed in the homes of residents or relatives whose living and living expenses are borne by the government. However, to anticipate funding delays, PMM students are advised to have spare money.
